New York Comic Con Photo Edition

Photobucket

Photobucket
We first arrived early in the morning-- this is the glass encasement that is the convention center.

Photobucket
Some signs. Note "Twilight" and "UP"-- of which we got to watch the first half-- very cute, be excited.

Photobucket
There were a number of Dealer's Room Entrances-- which is always a good idea. Note how empty it all is-- very early.

Photobucket
Better shot of an entrance way.

Photobucket
The majesty that is Faker.

Photobucket
A demo of the new Ghost Buster's game-- it looks pretty badass; Stay-Puft man is terrifying.

Photobucket
The Dealer's Room from the 'bove.

Photobucket
DC and the con itself was all about Watchmen.

Photobucket
Other side-- Silk Spectre II got wiped out by the lights. Big loss.

Photobucket
Patrick saw his love, a girl from G4 who remembers him from previous comic cons.

Photobucket
His reaction after she asked to interview him for the show.

Photobucket
The interview in progress. He thanked Katy about a million times for making him read Watchmen, thusly giving him the knowledge to be interviewed.

Photobucket
Here's Dave Gibbons telling us we're about to watch the first 18 minutes of Watchmen and the room started spazzing.

Photobucket
A Watchmen Wall in New York featuring Katy as Rorschach.

Photobucket
Featuring myself as Dr. Manhattan.

Photobucket
Some real cosplayers. Hellooooo Boba Fett.

Photobucket
I found Masque De Masque

Photobucket
Some fucking Power Rangers. How are there two Tommys? You tell me.

Photobucket
Now for some Arts-- this was taken for Meg as it features some boyfriends.

Photobucket
Another one for Meg-- he's a'pretty nice.

Photobucket
Old school and totally awesome looking.

Photobucket
The Hoot-Hoot.

Photobucket
Rorschach lookin' fine in front of his book cover.

Photobucket
He left the con with us and felt at home in his natural habitat. A city who fears him.

, where all your dreams come true! (Image Intensive)

The written version:
So we got into the city at about 6:30 in the morning, luckily the hotel let us in that fucking early, but Friday was totally exhausting. Those crafty mormons got us in as "professionals" making our passes cheaper and giving us bonuses like getting into the dealer's room two hours before the general public. DC had a great setup, swag was grabbed by the handfuls and stuffed away, Patrick got to talk to his lady from G4 who then did an interview with him about Watchmen-- I thought he was going to pass out.

As far as panels go, we got into the Watchmen panel where we learned we would get to watch the first 18 minutes of the film followed by a clip from later in the movie.
EVERYONE BE EVEN MORE EXCITED FOR WATCHMEN THAN YOU CURRENTLY ARE-- be it very or not at all XD
The beginning alone was gorgeous and the clip afterward gave me chills, it was amazing.

We sat in for Yatterman with Takashi Miike wherein I leapt like a fucking gazelle to the autograph line to retrieve Emilee's signed poster because I aim to please XD After that I believe was the Futurama movie-- which MIGHT be the last one because it kind of ended like it might be, I was confused but in love and it was strange XD After that-- bed.

Saturday turned us into costumed heroes-- Katy made us all shirts to symbolize one of the Watchmen. She was Rorschach, I was Dr. Manhattan, her dad was Ozy, Patrick was Nite Owl, and Daniel was The Comedian. Evan was not Silk Spectre, but it would have been funny.

This was the day we saw UP and clips and panels of other gems like Friday the 13th and Terminator. It never sounds like we did much, but there's so much to see and take in that it takes up a lot of time. We did leave the con somewhat early to see a bit of New York Saturday night. Got to see Time Square all lit up and eat an actual dinner at Applebee's. It was very nice.

I can now say I also know where to find the Fashion District for whenever Meg, Lisa, and whoever else wants to come with us finally get to go to New York. Our hotel was along the street with a lot of fabric stores. It was hard not to stop in D:

Sunday was much like any other convention. Duane left early for work and the rest of us hung out a bit, got last minute necessities-- I saw that girl Triumph called a whore in San Diego, then we left. Ten hours and some long insightful talks later we were home!

SOME OF YOU GUYS COME WITH ME TO A COMIC CON NEXT TIME :D

It was SO much fun! And yeah, comic cons are great for everyone! Anime's even started making its presence known for the fans who are more manga-oriented XD And yes! Up is so cute, you'll love it XD

WHY IS THERE A MASQUE DE MASQUE??? ridiculous.

I am TOTALLY there this summer and next year. I'm going to intensely work on hitting up comic conventions from now on. Maybe I can get into a field where it would even be a viable excuse to miss work... dare to dream.

HE WAS STEALING SHIT FROM THE DEALER'S ROOM

Someday it WILL be an excuse to miss work because when I'm famous and invited to them you'll have to come as a writer of stories I've illustrated. It all works XD

I love you Terry?

I am even more excited! How did I know you and Katy would love Jon and Walter? I just knew it. You love the psychotic, fascinating mens. Also, I find it HYSTERICAL that Katy is wearing the "dog with skull split open" blot. That is not an image I ever imagined I would ever see. Please tell me you two don't slash some of the Crimebusters together! XD

I will say that I am glad they changed Laurie's outfit and updated others', no matter what the fanboys say. God, in the comic it's hideous.

I love you XD And I DO love Jon, I can't help it! You know me too well. He was kind of handed to me as the leftover character when Katy made the shirts, but providence cast a Dr. Manhattan spell and I love him anyway XD It's those men with power-- PLUS, I thought about this, now I'll get ranty:

Always in comics it's the exaggerated-proportioned women wearing next to nothing and if anyone's taking their clothes off, you bet it's a lady. So I think the fact that Dr. Manhattan is finally the other side of that-- he's this supposedly perfect specimen of man who prefers to walk around wearing nothing at all. It's a victory for equality in my mind, so I love him for that reason too XD

Katy LOVES that blot of his-- we kept calling it her pretty butterfly XD And you're right about Laurie's outfit-- I will say it's much cuter and makes her look far more badass than her slinky little outfit in the comic-- hideous indeed XD
